Dorf Tirol - Mini golf - Tappeinerweg - Kuechelberg - Dorf Tirol

Take the path alongside Hauptstrasse downhill out of the village of Dorf Tirol towards the mini golf course. Just before you get there, branch off to the right down Keschtngasse until it opens out into Gnaidweg. Continue to the right along Gnaidweg to the Thurner Schloessl. Head downhill for approx. 200 m on Thurnsteinstrasse.
The famous Tappeinerweg trail begins here on the left. Follow this trail as far as Zenoberg. At this point it is possible to continue uphill for a further 150 metres towards Dorf Tirol and then catch the public bus to Dorf Tirol from the Stemmerkurve.

Dorf Tirol - Tyrol Castle - Thurnstein Castle - Gnaidweg - Dorf Tirol

From Dorf Tirol along Schlossweg through the Knappenloch tunnel into the Koestengraben gorge, past the earth pyramids (on the right) to the ancestral castle of  Tyrol. From there follow the trail that leads gently downhill to St. Peter and take the almost level footpath to Thurnstein Castle (restaurant). Follow Laurinstrasse downhill through orchards until, after approx. 2 km, the route reaches the small Thurn Castle (Thurner-Schloessl). Turn left into Gnaidweg and continue along this road (watch out for traffic!) as far as the swimming pool (lido). Then follow the pedestrian footpath along Hauptstrasse back to Dorf Tirol.

Dorf Tirol - Schenna

From the centre of the village set out along Lingweg. This route continues as a farm track as far as “Saxl-Egg”. From there head downhill into the Fineletal valley, on the left hand side of the road is a pavement (on the wall) to the Kuenserhof (inn), there cross over the road, follow the footpath for approx. 200 m then turn right into Breiterweg. Take this road downhill to the Passersteg. Cross over the suspension bridge over the river Passer and then head uphill to Schenna. Return by bus to Meran and then Dorf Tirol.

VARIANT

From the tourist information office take Aichweg along the branch that leads to Jaufenstrasse (Hotel Brunnhofer) and down the road to the right as far as Jaufenstrasse. Cross over this road and continue through apple orchards to the hiking trail (Purenweg), then right towards Passer to the cycle track – continue left to the Passersteg. Cross over the suspension bridge over the river Passer and then head uphill to Schenna. Return by bus to Meran and then Dorf Tirol.

Dorf Tirol - Seminary - Auer Castle - Tiroler Kreuz - Farmerkreuz - Dorf Tirol

From Dorf Tirol take Seminarstrasse to the “Johanneum” (seminary), then go left past the seminary and past the Haselried (inn) to Auer Castle. Then follow the signposts up the hill as far as the Tiroler Kreuz (inn). To the left of the inn and slightly elevated, starts the “Burggrafenweg” trail (= exercise and hiking trail); continue along this trail as far as the Farmerkreuz just below the inn (23B). From here return to Dorf Tirol.

Bus stop - Haus Pircher - water collection point - Spronser Weg » Tiroler Kreuz - bus stop

From the bus stop (Café Lechner) head uphill for 100 m to Haus Pircher. Follow the path straight on and past the water collection point below the Tiroler Kreuz until you come to a junction. 

At the junction turn left, climb slightly uphill via “Grosweg” to the Spronser trail and back via the Tiroler Kreuz to your starting point.

Bus stop - Haus Pircher - water collection point - Finelebach brook / waterfall - visitor bus stop

From the bus stop (Café Lechner) head uphill for 100 m to Haus Pircher. Follow the path straight on and past the water collection point below the Tiroler Kreuz until you come to a junction.
After the junction turn right to the Finelebach brook / waterfall and continue to the right along the path until you are above Auer Castle. Follow the marked route past the Kueglerhof to the bus stop (Pamerkreuz).

Tourist Information Office - Falknerweg - Schlossweg - pedestrian path to Vellau - Herrschaftsweg - Innerfarmer - trail nr. 23B

Start at the tourist information office, follow path nr. 26 to Tyrol Castle, then continue towards Vellau, past the Schneeweisshof snack station. Turn right and follow the signposts for the “Herrschaftsweg nr. 28”. After approx. 1 km continue on trail nr. 23A and climb the steps on the left to reach the Innerfarmerhof. Leave the Außerfarmerhof behind and follow the trail below the Farmerkreuz guesthouse. Continue on path nr. 23B first across mixed forest and then through the orchards back to the village centre.
